Applying Counseling Theories
Applying Counseling Theories (2007), published by Prentice Hall, is a theories book focusing on the application of counseling theories in a range of different settings and populations. The book and the interactive website provide students with what I considered to be limitation in most counseling textbooks, namely providing students with a guide for how to bridge the gap between learning and applying theory.
This project is further unique in that that book and website are used together and include simulated material that students can use to practice applying the theories. After reviewing each case on the website, students Afterwards, they have the opportunity to review how experts, representing the different theoretical approaches, and the authors to the chapters responded to the same set of questions. The background video on this page shows a little of how exactly this website work. In the upcoming years, I’ll be considering publishing a second edition of this text!
